President

Steve received his Bachelor of Science degree in Law Enforcement & Security Administration from Northern Michigan University. From 1985 to 1998, he held the positions of District, Regional, Divisional, and Corporate Loss Prevention Director for several national retail companies. During his career in loss prevention, Steve conducted thousands of investigations into employee theft, vendor theft, cargo theft, organized shoplifting rings, and discrimination and sexual harassment allegations, just to name a few. He also has conducted over 8,000 integrity interviews, and it has been said that his work ethic and technical investigative skills are in the top 5% in the retail loss prevention industry.

In 1995, Steve founded Asset Control Services, Inc. (ACS), and for the past 20 years, we have conducted over 28,000 investigations of insurance claims, Workers' Compensation, mortgage fraud, provider fraud, identity theft, and employee theft for insurance companies, self-insured, third-party administrators, law firms, corporations, and individuals. During this time, Steve has strived to remain a strong regional company that is quality-driven and results-oriented. ACS is licensed in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Kentucky. Steve is married with two children.

Glenn Durfield
Director of Investigations

Glenn received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University. Glenn worked for the State of Michigan Liquor Control Commission as an Undercover Decoy; at a large investigative firm, where he worked as an Undercover Operative on various assignments; and for a national retail chain as an Investigator in their Loss Prevention Department. Glenn became a licensed Professional Investigator and joined ACS in 2001 as a Field Investigator. Glenn excelled in both surveillance and claims investigations and was promoted to Field Manager and then later to Director of Investigations. As Director of Investigations, Glenn is responsible for the training of new investigators, providing continuing training for investigators on staff, and acts as the front line supervisor for the ACS team of Field Investigators. Glenn is married with two children.

Jim McDaniel spent three years in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1969 to 1971. In 1975, Jim graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in Criminal Justice and went to work for the Tuscaloosa Police Department in Alabama, where he worked in the Criminal Investigation & Narcotics Division for the next seven years. He then left the police department and opened and managed two retail discount stores. After two years, Jim returned to law enforcement and worked for the Morehouse Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana, where he directed all criminal and undercover investigations. He then decided to retire from law enforcement and worked for the next 15 years as a Regional Director, Director of Investigations, and Divisional Director for several national retail companies in their Loss Prevention departments. In 1995, Jim founded Asset Control Services, Inc., in Fairhope, Alabama, and for the next 17 years he directed operations for ACS’s Southern Division. Being the entrepreneur that he is, Jim founded Costal Stone and Cabinetry in 2004 (http://www.granitecountertopsfairhope.com). In 2012, Jim decided to retire from ACS to spend more time building his granite company and to spend more time with his grandchildren.
